I loved the part when they tossed a huge Brookie or Splake back thinking it was a Brown!! How does a guide up there not know what a Splake or Brook trout looks like? Anybody else been up there looking for Mrs Big?

Don't get me wrong, I'd have taken any of those fish over the 13"ers on Beaver Dam. The scene with the frieghter breaking through the ice was cool too.

Member Posts: 43 | Saw the show and John said it was a two day shoot.Someone needs to tell John that if the camera adds 10lbs to a person that maybe it doesn't add 10lbs and 12 inches to each fish he catches. It did look like a great time as lots of fish were caught. The boat breaking ice was interesting.Paul

Member Posts: 540 Location: Milw, WI | My buddy went up there all weekend. Sat used a guide, skunkolla. Well 2 nice perch. On Sun. only my bud got out of bed to go with some Wisconsin people they meet the night before. He was put on fish, 5-9's, jigging, nothing on tip-ups . But the dummy forgot to get names and #'s of the guys that took him out. They are from the Bago area. If you read this please P.M. me as he would like to stay in contact. Oh yea, 4 wheel drive a must that weekend.

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | A buddy and I are heading up in the morn.and fishing the rest of the day into the night hours then back on the ice all day thurs.I heard a few reports of fish being caught on the north end near center reef. But this was during the week. The traffic does seem to be affecting the bite.fri-mon is the slowest then tues-thurs it has picked up with less noise on the ice. We'll see if this holds true for us.I'll post a report when I get back.I hope to get some pic"s.Should be some nice jiggin weather too.The auger will be gettin a workout.

Member Posts: 1406 | Steve, My buddy was there last weekend and sapnked some serious fish. Too many to mention. It's not my place to give specifics so I will refrain. Lets just say it was a great memory! And I am hoping to make it after the superbowl! Good Luck Tyee

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | Well its nothing to write home about. But we did have some nice weather. We ended up with only one halfway decent fish on the ice.26"And lots of small fish. We fished the north end.Yup should have fished south of town.Oh well maybe next time.Travel was great but there is a working crack over by the vagabond. We mainly fished the deeper water from 30'-45' as the sun was high and brite on thurs.I put the camera down and I could hardly see my rapala from 2 feet away.I did'nt put the camera down until later on thur.I think if we would have been in some cleaner water we may have done better.Had I would guess hundreds of little walleyes under us so the future looks good.Oh yeah here is my catch for the day and a half 2 perch,1 whitefish and a SUCKER I thought i finnally broke the ice until I saw that ugly mug in the hole. Also lost another big fish about halfway up to the hole.If I were to go up again I would fish south of town. They are driving out south of Gladstone but check before venturing out.
