Member Posts: 1406 | Help guys, with all the infinate wisdom here I have read many stories of some of you fishing in the Ozarks, Warsaw area, As many of you are trustworthy I would like your advice on locating a person that could teach my retired old man how to fish! He has recently relocated (retired) in the Ozarks and loves Crappies and Bass, my walleye skills don't help him much although he is now set up with most of the right gear, (I hope). He is in need of help with Strippers on Truman Lake specifically, but overall he needs help with presentations. Who or what do you know? I don't want him taken by a cheap hot shot hick! Thanks and Good Luck Tyee

I doubt it... but they might have a suggestion... http://www.hibdons.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi That's a link to their website forum... Post a request for a guide there...

Member Posts: 141 Location: Oshkosh, WI | This is not the expertise you are looking for, but it made me think of this story... I once went whitebass fishing with a hillbilly friend of mine in the White River in Arkansas. We borrowed an old flat bottom boat from his uncle - the bad news is we could only find one paddle and water was kind of high. We had caught a few white bass and were having some fun when a fast bend brought us under a big cottonwood tree that was hanging in the water. While we dragged the limbs through the boat, I tried to paddle us back with the single oar - but not fast enough because the cotton mouth that was lying up in the tree dislodged and fell into the boat. my buddy fell over backwards over the seat and about the time I was ready to let that snake have the boat the critter made it over side. It still makes me laugh to think about being up a creek with only one paddle. ![]()

Location: Rhinelander | Tyee, I've been down there a few times covering PWT events, and the guys were actually complaining about the monster crappies and gills they were catching fishing eyes. Thundersticks over the flats were producing white crappies that barely fit in a 5 gallon pail, and crawler presentations were putting 10" gills in the boat consistently. I'm absolutely certain trolling boards and cranks will put Stripers in the well, too. Most of the locals down there don't troll with boards much, far as I could see.

Member Posts: 1406 | hg, Thanks much we are in the process of trying to contact Dion and Guido! Steve, thanks also, the Crappies are his favorite and I am sure the shallow runners will spank the eyes once I get there in spring and do a little edumacating! Looking forward to turning his neighbors into walleye fishermen with Dave's lures. If there is anyone else here that knows anything about the Ozarks please chime in, we need all the help we can get for this retired ole goat! Good Luck Tyee
