| Hello,
I fish muskies on Mille Lacs, and instead of fighting the crowds on the typical spots next year I would like to try fishing some of the deeper mid-lake reefs (15'-25'). I have talked to several walleye anglers catching and loosing muskies doing just this. Just wondering if any of you have run into muskies fishing these deeper reefs? If so, what month, which reef, how deep did you contact fish, and how far off the bottom were your baits etc?

Location: upper michigan | this isnt musky but i caught some very nice Northern pike on leech lake in August last year fishing in 45 to 65 feet of water they had huge bellies on them and i think the bigest was around 17 lbs the smallest was 10 lbs and we caught 4 or 5 a day. |

Location: Rhinelander | The deeper reefs on Mille Lacs hold muskies all year long after the spawn is complete. Some significant numbes show up when the water temps warm to high 60's and low 70's, assuming we have a Summer instead of prolonged Spring like last year. There are a few good sticks fishing that bite, but it's not as well known as the shallower pattern. |
