Took a board member (Mr. Twister) on a charter today and was both quit impressed with this young man, and the faith he restored in me for this younger generation coming up. Mr. Twister (Jeff) has been fishing the Saginaw River most lately, and pulling anywhere from 30 to 50 walleyes a day in the 11 to 14 inch range. Well, these little fish come up quit fast and easy compared to a walleye with any size.

Anyway, Me and Jeff are set up and fishing by 10:00am and one friend after another are coming out to my shanty and saying hello. One friend sets up 50 yards away. This is the same friend who started the Swedish Squid trend last Thursday. He fishes 20 minutes with the Big Swedish Pimple again, and he's got a fish. So I put a Big Pearl Swede on Jeff's rod. 20 minutes later Jeff's into a fish. I assume Jeff is going to get down on one knee and scoop the nice walleye out, as I don't gaff fish anymore.

So I see this fish come into the hole, but Jeff isn't getting down on one knee. All of a sudden he reels down closer to the fish and Slingshots him out of the hole like a trident missle being launched from it's submarine. The fish hits the ice like a 300 pound Tuna in those old commercial fishing videos, thrashing around more in shock that he's been blasted out of his element than anything else. I'm laughing my butt off at the sight, as Jeff is now kicking the walleye away from the two 10 inch holes like Gordy Hull foot feathering the puc for a slap shot. The whole day was full of laughs and we ended up going 3 for 7, with the dead rods giving us fits for setting the hooks today.
