I am going to be getting a new reel soon and was wondering what everyone thinks about these 2 companies. Which one of the 2 is better? Also, what model should I go with?

They're both really nice if you are going on the cheaper end the inexpensive ABU have been very good to me, on the spendier end the Shimanos have been great as well

A very good inexpensive reel is the Mitchel Avocet Gold. They retail for under $50. They have a very smooth retrieve with instant anti reverse, 8 ball bearing drag system, and are well balanced. Plus, they are a good looking reel as well. Don't buy anything else till you at least take a look at one. ( I use the 2000 series.)

I'll deffinately take a look at it. I forgot to mention above that I don't want to spend more than $60 on a reel. The highest shimano I'm looking at is the Sahara or the Abu Garcia's 100-103's.

The Garcia 100-103 series are very nice reels. My son fishes them, and swears by them. In fact, come to think of it, I bought both of the reels he has for him for different holidays.
