And they almost never seem to be interested in much of anything. But tonight out of the blue before dark about a dozen suspended marks come into the hole. I pull up my Glow/Green Loco, give it a twitch and bang, these white fish were Pi$$ed. And fight, I think almost similar to having a steelhead on. The only other time I caught a white fish while actually targeting them, was when I set out a tip-up with just a minnow head on it. I burried a #12 treble in the head and simply let it set on bottom with a bunch of other minnow parts I threw down the hole. We had observed the whites coming in our holes before this, cleaning up the bottom of all the pinched in half minnow carcasses we threw down there. Otherwise, they catch them on tear drops and wax worm below bobbers when they run the rivers around here. Edited by walleye express 2/13/2005 9:31 PM

Member Posts: 701 Location: upper michigan | I asked one of the baitshops in Gladstone how to rig up for whitefish and they said to use a light action rod for detecting strikes. a small egg sinker to get the bait down a short leader of 2# or 4# with either a single salmon egg or a dead or pinched off minow layed right on the bottom he also said about every couple minutes to pick it up about a foot and alot of times thats when they will bite. I am going out friday and i will let ya know how it worked for me. Heck it cant hurt to try it another few fish on the ice on slow days makes for big smiles. Edited by butch 2/14/2005 3:09 PM
