My dad is looking at buying one of the 2 rods and was wondering what everyone's opinion on them was. He is looking at the SJR722 or any of the legend tournament series.

Thanks,
Mike

What is he looking to do with the rod? The IMX 722 is a fairly stiff rod. I use mine for jigging 5/8 oz jigs on the river.

I think he would like the IMX 782 a little more. The 782 is a better all around rod that he could use for other things as well. I use my 721 IMX rods more than the 722, because the 722 is only better on the heavy jigs. If he is only looking for a jig rod I would get the 721 IMX first then 782.

The 722's equivalent in St. Croix would be the 60MLF. Although I feel St. Croix's ML's are slightly less powerful than the 2-power Loomis'.

If strictly verticle jigging, a 6 footer is a fine choice. If doing work out away from the boat, I'd opt for the 6'6".
