On a 3-way, even double stacked and "pulled" around structure and drop offs as done in the Winneconne area. I also use them as part of a two at a time rig for walleye and white bass with a jig as the dropper on the 3-way. Can be deadly tipped with a minnow or a leech.

Just to add to Doc's comment, the flys need to be pulled, with rod in hand, with a pulsing action. The pulsing actions gives the fly material the puff and life-like appearance.
Take care,

I learned about htese in Wineconne last spring. They work everywhere there is current. I even had luck as Doc metnioned tipping them with live bait and pullig them behind a bouncer.

Simple, yet effective. Just the way i like it.

I still tie flies like my dad used to, using a piece of spun chenile on a longshank hook, add some bucktail strands and then add a spinner up front and a piece of crawler on the hook and fish them on 3-ways in the summer and fall. Some days, they just love to eat 'em when the plain stuff won't work.
