I heard that there is a new Tuffy Walleye boat that's supposed to be released this month, a 17' model. The guy I talked to has a quote with a 90 hp 4 stroke Suzuki or 90 Merc Opti Max rigged and ready with a Prestige or Eagle trailer for about $20K. This is a deep v, with a 25" transom, and the rod locker is supposed to hold 14 rods up to 8'. I looked on the website, but no pictures yet, anyone seen one of these?

Yes, it's an new model; the first production boat was shipped to Fort Fremont Marine last week. Same all new interior as the new 1760 and 2060 Osprey models, with the new FRP sealed dry storage and center load rod locker. It does take an 8' rod, easily. The hull is 17' by 82" wide, and takes big water really well. With the 90 HP motors listed, the boat will do low 40's. The boat is also available in an Esox Deep V model for about $600 more.

When will the boat be up on the website? Also what is the max hp rating?

The boat will be on the website soon. Tuffy is running a promotion with this rig over the summer to kick off the 2006 model year. The boat rates at 135 console and 60 tiller.

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Hi all, For those of you that are interested, I know, not you JACK, I do have this new boat at my shop NOW!! It is the Tuffy 1700 Esox model which is exactly like the osprey model with a removeable rear casting deck. I will post some pictures on my website by this afternoon. www.fortfremontmarine.com I will tell you that I don't quote prices over the phone or the internet but suffice it to say the "around" 20K will get you in the park. Give me a call, this one won't last long.

I looked at both the websites, and the boat Jack pointed out compares more closely to the Tuffy 1760 than the 1700, so YarCraft does not manufacture a comparable boat. I believe at around 20k the 1700 would be at least 7 to 8 k cheaper that the YarCraft. I saw the 17.xx foot YarCraft at the Milwaukee show and I believe they were asking 28,900 with a 115 yamaha.

no offense taken JLDII, just pointing out they are quite a bit different, esp from a dollar standpoint which is why I'm in the market for a 17 foot value boat in the first place

Just checked back and they do have a few pictures of the new model, the overhead shot (which you can click on) and the series of images to the right, click on that and images 3 and 4 are new. I am assuming the deck with the seat on it in the back is the removable deck? I would like to measure that rod locker for my own sanity, I can't believe you could get and 8 footer in there. If so that's pretty incredible. http://www.tuffyboats.com/boats/1700

The new 1700 Osprey is also available in the Esox Deep V line, which has a rear deck module and Esox Deep V graphics. The deck module fits into the interior as if it was molded in and is easily removed. In 5 minutes the deck module, which has two gull wing lids, a seat base, and doubles as additional storage is out of the boat using a socket wrench. Average retail on this rig with a 90HP 4 stroke, water ready, would be about $23K really nicely appointed with electric motor and sonars including tax. The Osprey would be about $600 less without the deck module. The boat will run in the 40's for speed with a 90, and rates at 135. The hull is a time tested deep V model that has proven big water performance in the worst the weather can hand out.

Member Posts: 340 Location: McFarland, WI | I will vouch for the toughness of the hull. I have to fish when my schedule allows it not when the weather allows it. We hammer it hard on the Bay in my Tuffy 1990 and I feels safe and comfy in that boat. Larry
