Easy question for you experienced walleye guys and gals. What's the most effective way to rig your nightcrawler to a jig? Do you feel the new "baits" can give similar results (Gulp, Powerbait etc.)? Never tried crawler harnesses, but I assume they are fairly stroight forward to rig??

Thanks for the help,

Labs

In most situations, if I am using live crawlers I will use 1/2 a crawler and thread it on the jig.

Yes, Berkley power baits are the real thing and they really work. I think most people have too much dependence on live bait and if they tried the Berkley powerbaits they would be pleasantly surprised.

Rigging crawler harnesses can be as easy or complicated as you would like to make it. The easy way is to go buy some 2 or 3 hook harnesses, hook on the worm add a weight and go fishin'. The complicated way is to play with different hooks, colors, sizes, speeds, lengths, weights, blades and line types. Many of us have made lots of minor modifications to the rigs we make that we feel improve the bite and hooking percentage.

I fish a jig and crawler alot, too, and use half just pierced through the nose, or through the tail. Gulp definitely works, but there are times for whatever reason the real thing works a bit better for me.
