Location: appleton,wi | <p>Has anyone else been fowling Spark plugs, this is my third time in two years, Last year during the second day of the MWC, I fowled a plug. I took it in after $75.00 bucks nothing wrong. I took it out and ran it about 4 hours, fowled another plug. This year ran fine until the second day of Otter street waiting to take off pushed it down and fowled another plug.</p><p>Whats going on??? ran Shell gas, was told by a few guys not to run any type of gas with "ethenol" did that still fowling plugs, I need help or a Ideas. Before I take it in and get a large bill again.. </p> |

| This comes from Jay(Merc. tech). When you foul a plug, run at about 3500 rpm's for a mile or so then power up again, that usually clears out the fouled plug. I've done it twice this past year, worked both times. |

| Any technical ?'s regarding Opti-Max motors needs to go directly to Jim Merten at Merten Marine in Oshkosh. He is the best in the business. Did an excellent job on my 225 and gave me some good advise to boot. If your fowling plugs there is a root cause which is most likely not the plugs.Jim can break the motor down relativley quick and locate that root cause. Also, he has a good working relationship with Mother Mercury and on occation has found She can be quite generous with these motors. Give him a call. 920-231-6751 |
