Well it looks like we are going to continue to get the water we need. I've heard of 4" white bass all over the system, even in the New London area. Also some reports of schools of bigger fish being found working their way up the system. A few crappies have been being caught and the only decent reports of walleye have been from the boat I've been in. LOTS of food in the river (explaining the tough walleye bite), minnows all over the place. This could be a good fall for fishing once it gets going.

Hey, i'm going out this weekend, what do you think would be the best choice of bait? Minnows or Crawlers?

Great weekend out on the Wolf. Temps in the 80's on Sunday and water temps right around 61. Managed a mixed bag including rock bass, goats, a catfish and a very nice sized smallie. Also picked up two "eater" walleyes all on crawlers. Way to warm to hit the duck marsh or sit in the tree stand. All in all, a great time on the water.

Good luck...

Man I havn't seen the sun rise in awhile. We had the same type of morning. Found a group of walleye in the third spot we tried but once the boat traffic started they got harder to make bite so we quit before 11AM. Beautiful and relaxing morning. If I'd have hit that spot first we would have caught a bunch more walleye before my friends had to head home.

The river is a beautiful place to be when we have fall weather like it has been the last few weeks. Trees look nice, fish are biting from time to time and it beats watching the TV. I'm suprised at how dead this thread is. Either everyone prefers to keep the Wolf "secret" or info is just not shared very much. All the site's, including any of the so called "fishing reports" seem to die after spring. Oh well, maybe it's meant to keep the crowds down.

Good luck...

Fall fishing just getting going. Small mouth have been the main attraction in New London with some crappie starting to bite and a few walleye too. As soon as I get a boat I'll be able to go more.

Been hearing some encouraging word about the walleyes. Last couple of outings for me have been crappie fishing but will do a little walleye work this week if all goes as planned.
