Hi Jim,

You & your staff did a great job this year in all of your tournaments. It was a great time and a heck of a lot of fun !

But I do have a small request for 2006. Lets keep in mind that there is concern among some of your fishing teams with the amount of tournaments held on the bay of Green Bay. Some of us think it's just too many, and benefitting the local teams.

You are the MIDWEST WALLEYE SERIES ?

Thanks, tjm

I have a different opinion.Even though all three tournaments were on the bay, we ended up fishing a different area every tournament. It's such a big body of water, with so many unknown hidden honey holes, that it makes it interesting every time out.I actually liked the schedule, and wouldn't mind if it stayed the same.

Here's a suggestion: don't change a thing. Same venues, same rules, and around the same time of year. Keep up the great work!!!

I thought this year was great!! Jim & staff did an awsome job.

IF you were to change anything, I wouldnt mind if the first 2 tournaments were switched around. Then the Winnebago bite would be better.

What other bodies of water are an option?

Thanks Jim. I missed you guys too. Between health issues and workload I just couldn't make any of the events. But my son Brandon and I are planning on fishing the circuit next year. See you at the championship weigh-in.

I like the Pete, but hate the slot limit for tourneys.

I like the schedule this year, however, 3 is maybe a bit much on Green Bay. Perhaps do the May tourney to coincide with the FLW again, and LBDN in Sept, and find another location for July or August?

How about the Madison Chain? Or some river or flowage other thna the Pete? No Slot waters. Gogebic in the UP? Some lake in MN? Cass perhaps?

If I were King for a day and made the final decisions on where and when we fished for this tournament series:

I’d keep the first tournament just like it is. It’s become kind of a tradition for opening weekend. I like the timing and the place. This comes from someone who bombed there last year . There are plenty of active fish and you always have the choice of fishing the river areas or upper lakes.

That takes care of May. I would then schedule a tournament for June, July and August. Or, if you want to get September in there space them out 5 weeks a part. I hated waiting for the last tournament. There was just too much time between the last two. And then there appeared to be a rush to get the Championship done. Spreading things out better would be helpful.

I have no problem with doing two (not three) tournaments on Green Bay. As mentioned before, It’s big enough that if we hold them at different ends of the lake it’s like fishing two different bodies of water. Going to Michigan when we did was a great idea. Going there any sooner makes for long runs and poor bites.

I’d like to see a new location for the fourth tournament. I get stagnant and bored going to the same water over and over again. Let’s do something different. (by fourth tournament, I do not mean that this should be our last tournament)

It appears that we are attracting more and more boaters from Michigan. I’d like to hear their take on this. I’d like to see us expand the interest from that state. Is there a lake that they would recommend to do this?

Somebody raised the point that this tournament Series is called the Midwest Walleye Series. I agree, let’s use the Midwest. I would hate for us to visit the same 2 or 3 lakes every year or in the same year. But hey, that’s just me.

TFM does a great job and they need to consider where they get the biggest draws. Leaving an area where they draw 100 boats does not make fiscal sense. Taking a risk on a new location could really hut them if we do not commit on being there.

Jim, thanks for asking for input. Tthe rest of us need to step up to the plate and make suggestions or forever hold our peace. And then we need to show them support by attending all 4 tournaments if at all possible. This tournament series just keeps getting better and better. Let’s keep it that way. It’s becoming the envy of many other circuits.

Kudos’

If you would consider some U.P waters other than Bay De Noc I would recomend Lake Gogebic and also Portage and torch lakes. These systems can be very good and they are big enough bodies of water for a tournament. But I would not compalin if things stayed the way they are either I had a great time this past year.

The Wisconsin river has a lot of diffrent locations to hold tournaments. The Castle Rock area used to host MWC Tournaments about 10 years ago.Their's lots of oppertunity on the Wisconsin river system.

Great job TFM,

I don't mind three events on Green Bay as long as they aren't held out of Green Bay when the bite is on Chambers or held in Menominee when the bite is on the lower Bay. We all know where the fish would generally be at certain times of the year so why hold events at locations that always call for us making long runs. Not all of us have 20Ft boats with 225's on them.

Winnebago gets beat up with enough tournaments each year but the opening weekend event on the Winnebago is perfect. Like Sunshine said it is becoming tradition. It's like the MWS's version of Spring Valley.

Here are some locations: Winnebago in May, Green Bay in June or July out of Green Bay, Bay de Noc in September. Here are some other options, Spring Valley, Petenwell, Lake Wisconsin, Lake Gogebic, Mississippi River. I think we need a river event.

I think Jon made a great ideal for Spring Valleye and like the ideal to possible go back their. But also agree that Opening on Winnebago is kind off a tradition now adays.

It is nice that you Jim and the Staff of TFM allow this kind of feed back on possible locations. This one reason the MWS is a Class act and is respected by allot of individauls who like to fish. I hope to fish again in MWS next year and for many years to come.

Was only able to fish 1 tourney with you this year due to heavy work schedule, but I thought this was the best schedule you had ever put together. You have to keep in mind that you want as many teams as possible to fish them all, with gas prices you need to keep them kind of close like you did this year. Great job this year, hope to fish them all next year!

There is one team that fished all the series that came from Milwuakee i dont think that Bay De Noc was any to close to home for them. New waters are always a plus. It evens out the playing field alot and doesnt makew it easy for the same teams year after year. But regardless it was a great year I Loved every stop I had a riot fishing in the snow squalls at Winnebago. For the first time ever I fished the Bay of Green Bay out from the fox river. Found the rite fish had the rite bites lost to many what a rush. This was the second time I fished a tourney out of Menominee we came up one fish short caught a nice one with seconds to go at the end of the day now we are on the bubble for the championship what a rush. Bay De Noc nervouse with the threat of big winds and small craft advisory. Go out first fish is 23" on the nose perfect slot after that we got 5 more fish betwwen 24 1/2 and 26 inches came up one short again missing another slot. but we made the championship WHAT A RUSH. Jim keep up the great work and as long as I can scratch up the money I will fish all the MWS tourneys no matter where they are at.

Do I dare get in the middle of this. Oh well, caution to the wind. I fish the MWS because they are not 600.00 entry fee's. I fish them because they are a very well organized circuit. I fish them, and Dennis listen to this, because they are close to home. Home being the winnebago system. I don't want to travel 6 hrs. away to fish. If I did I would get in the MWC. Keep them close to home. Some times the only pre-fishing day is saturday.

Denny,

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Mine................. I always get a little anxious with threads like this because most people will get on the board and promote their home waters. They like the advantage of fishing in their backyard. I guess now with the high price of gas they cover their tracks by saying it costs too much to travel. Here's an idea, change the words a little and start calling the MWS the Mostly Winnebago System Series. But I guess that would be MWSS.

There's a tournament on your home water every weekend. Plenty of excitement for ya. But It doesn't really show us who is the best fisherman on a variety of water now does it. I get plenty of tournaments in on Bago, the local talent always makes it tough. Hard to compete with someone who is on the water 4 or 5 days a week after work. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Hmmmmmmmm New waters.....I'm sure that's always a tough call. I'm a big fan of new waters, at the same time, I'm a fan of larger fields with better payouts. Sometimes you can't have both.

Based on my rough estimates it looks like this last year was the best year the MWS had based on the total # of teams that turned out. Kinda hard to go back to the "old days" when things are getting better?

If I recall the Minoqua turn out was fairly low for boats. The petenwll open is no longer an event, granted it was never the MWS but it was TFM "driven" and it must not of been a viable tournament since it no longer exists.

If I could change an event I'd say dump the May bago event and go to a river. Let's see who is the better fisherman, not just the better troller.

Dennis, It sounds like you may have out grown the local circuits. Maybe its time to move along to the national circuits. Lets not try to change this one, this one is good the way it is, there are others out there that can take care of you. Maybe there championships will be easier to attain without having to fish against all the locals everytime.
