Skies are clear, winds forecast to be 10 to 20 out of the south/southwest, and temps in the mid seventies. The opening ceremonies were held in crisp fall temps, as 10 identically rigged Ranger boats; 5 Yamaha, 5 Eninrude/Johnson eased out of the Harbor at 6:55 this morning. The areas the 50 boat field were fishing will be much easier to access with only 10 on the water today, so watch for an exciting finish for day three as the weigh in begins at about 5 PM this evening.

WOW! I wonder if guy's like Rick Olson and Shanon Kehl got to sleep in those Rangers to get used to them? That would be different running your boat all year having everything placed where you want it, like your Electronics and Motors and then have to switch. I wonder if last night they got to test drive them and get familiar with the boat they would get to use?

I would guess that it is not the boat that is the main concern. Many of us have jumped into a friends or partners boat that is a different model with no real problems. I would guess that the main issue is with the electronics. If you do not use Genmar products and then have to figure out their menu structure AND then have to manually input all of your waypoints from your unit it could be very time consuming and puzzling.

The same could be said to a lesser degree with the trolling motors. As an example, I have been using the Minn Kota Auto Pilot for years now and absolutely love the very thin Micro pedal. Putting me in a different boat with a different vendors setup will make my life difficult.

The last thing to consider is that those who thought this all out prior to even getting there knew that this would happen. If they planned right they did everything they could prior to last night or this morning. They may have driven a friend’s Ranger and/or played with a Genmar sonar unit. I remember fishing the championship as co-angler in Green Bay with a very famous national Pro. He made his Lowrance GPS unit portable before ever getting to the championship. He was ready with his backup. Sneaking his sponsor’s unit into the boat was not against the rules, at least then (or so I was told).

Why do shivers run up and down my spine with the thought of someone like Sunshine stepping into a boat, for the day, that he does not have to worry about blowing up?

Yeeeeehaaaaaahhhhh!

Shannon and Rick will manage to "suffer through" fishing in those Rangers. ;);) (I sell Rangers)

Both of those guys have had a whole lot of different boat sponsors over the years. They can fish out of anything, as they have already proven.

The Leader board here needs to be corrected. The standings are not right. They all started back at zero today so you do not count the first two day weights.

NOTE FROM ZACH

We forgot to put in a scoring format exception for the FLW chamionship, so the leaderboard is not scoring corretcly. Day Three the weights return to zero, so the day three weights ONLY determine place. This will be corrected sometime this evening.
