Member Posts: 499 Location: Appleton | Congratulations and THANKS to all twenty five teams that qualified to fish the 2005 MWS Championship held in Green Bay October 8th. Thanks also to all the teams that supported the Midwest Walleye Series in 2005. The entire TFM crew appreciates your professional actions and continued support of the MWS Series. It was a cold windy day for the start of the tournament with two to four foot waves and the winds picked later in the day. The teams were limited to fishing the river due to the winds and for safety reasons. We had some great weights and twenty two of twenty five teams weighed a four fish limit with the remainder weighing three fish. We also had a 100% release rate. The team of Steve Bodinger and Dan Bodinger took first place with four fish weighing 14.92#, winning them $4,000 and are the 2005 MWS Champions. Second place went to the Father / Son team of the year Erv Schuette and Pat Schuette with four fish totaling 14.40# for $2,200. Third place went to the team of Larry Strelow and Matt Riemer with four fish weighing 14.12# for $1,700 and they also had the big fish which was 4.32#. Fourth place went to the team of Joe and Kim Boehnlein with four fish totaling 13.32# for $1,200. Fifth place went to the team of Joe Hackett and Dave Hackett with their four fish weighing 12.62# for $1,000. Sixth Place went to the team of Lee and Brenda Georgenson with four fish weighing 12.24# for $500. Seventh place went to Glen Chenier and Glenn Wangerin with four fish weighing 11.80#, winning them $250. All remaining teams received $180. The Dick (Hack) Hackbarth memorial trophy was awarded to Wayne Halla and Al Halla. The 2005 Team of the Year is Jim Tiemann and Deborah Ojala. The 2005 Husband/Wife Team of the Year is Ron and Vickie Goldapske. The Parent/Child Team of the Year is Erv Schuette and Pat Schuette. A Championship banquet followed Saturday evening for the teams and their guests. Awards were presented at the banquet. Each championship qualifier also received a shirt compliments of Mercury Marine and TFM Promotions. Complete standings can be found on our web page www.fishtfm.com Thanks to all the Major sponsors for their support of the series. The major sponsors are Mercury Marine, Ranger Boats, MotorGuide and Okuma Reels. Member Posts: 3899 | Congrats to all that made the top 25! It was fun competing with you all this year. I would say the competition is better every year in the MWS! I'm going to have to work harder and fish smarter next year! Thanks to Jim and his staff for running a very fine series. And to Gary Gray for the Dick Hackbarth Memorial Award. As this is a new award, what determined the winner? I'm sure it's a great honor to receive it. Dick was a great guy, and is missed.

Member Posts: 499 Location: Appleton | Hi Shep The Hack award this year went to the team with the smallest basket at the Championship. Hack lived his life with the NEVER GIVE UP attitude and that winning was not everything, but that doing the best you could was more important. He shared this attitude with people his life. He never looked for recognition for things, he did but rather it was his ethics to do his best just because that was Hack. This award will be given out at the MWS Championship every year in memory of Hack. We will change the way the winner is determined each year. The decision will be made by Gary Gray who sponsored the award and MWS and will not be announced until the night of the Championship banquet. Thanks Jim Coon
