Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Just finished Shrink rapping my Grady White. And I now know why they get $250.00 for doing it at the marina. Of course before I did that, I made sure I had everything I could possibly want or use for fishing out of the boat before next years open water trolling season. I found an old plano box shoved way up front in one of the sleeping berths in the cabin, that had some old Walleye Magnet Crankbait Lures I forgot were in it. I thought I had got rid of all them one day on the Tittabawassee River. Which leads me to this funny/not so funny story.
These Walleye Magnet Lures are all molded plastic (bills included) and were shaped like a crayfish. I forget who the manufacturer was (I think Lur Jenson). Anyway, I had bought one of each color when they first come out, and had tried them in just about every application possible with no luck. So one Spring day when we were fishing the Tittabawassee, three young kids made their way down the rivers edge and dropped down the bank near us, and started fishing from shore. They seemed like nice kids, so I take all these Magnets Lures, put them into a Zip-Loc baggie and threw them to the kids. Of course their first question was "Do they work". I answered "Of course they work". Well, you can guess the rest. They each tied one on and proceeded to outfish us 2 to 1 while we were using live bait. When one of my clients asked if he could try one, I had to tell him that was all I had. "My God your a nice guy" the other one said. "Ya, I'm a real pip" I answered. |
