The Illinois Walleye Trail conducted its 2nd Tournament of the 2006 season Sunday 11/13/06 in Henry Illinois. Teams from Iowa, Indiania, and Illinois launched boats in Brutal winds on Sunday with no end in site for the blowing. The wind was out of the south southwest all day 25 to 35 mph with gust up to 50 mph, with air temps in the 55 degree range and surface temps in the 55 degrees. The Illinois river is still low with very little current but the team of Mike Richetta Spring Valley and Jim Klein of Spring Valley managed to vertical jig with minnows catching five fish weighing 10.34 pounds earning them $1,435.00. They also captured big fish honors with a 3.08 pound Sauger for an addtional $400.00 and the Hennepin Marine Bonus money of $100.00. Total payday of $1,935.00 for the days fishing not bad for something that you enjoy to do said Klein and a pretty good paycheck for one day. Placing 2nd with one of only two 6 fish limits was the team of John Dalzot, Spring Valley and Tom Giachetto Jr. from Ladd, Illinois with 8.72 pounds for $750.00. The other limit of fish brought to the scales was from brothers Gary and Bruce Merkel, of Spring Valley weighing 7.28 pounds for $430.00. Complete results and the year to date point standing for the trail can be found at www.prairielandeyes.com The next tournament will be December 11, 2004 at Spring Valley, Illinois. We would like to thank our Fine sponsors Hennepin Marine, Lund Boats, Mercury Outboards, The Inhibitor, Mautinois, Custom Canvas Company, J & M Marine the Authorized Minn-Kota and Motor guide repair business and Cabelas

I was glad the "creek" was low and no current the winds. If it was high it would have brought back some bad memories.
