Still too much walking for me to decide to go but I've been hearing of walleyes being caught. All the snow probably won't make the ice conditions any better until the next cold snap. BE CAREFUL

I heard walleyes are biting well in New London. I never river ice fished because of safety and really not knowing how to rig up the tip up to adjust to current. Do you ice fish the sloughs off the river or right around the bends or how does that work? Any help would be good. I work a 6 on 3 off schedule and will probably go next friday anyone want to go to New London? FLY

try a carolina type rig on your tip up for use in the river. lets the line slide freely use an egg or bell style sinker. consider adding floating jig heads to keep your offering off the bottom.

The river is looking pretty sloppy but there sure seem to be plenty of anglers out there. Be carefull!! Make sure you don't take the "Star Trek" motto alone or go without taking the proper precautions for you and your partner. A rope and a throwable life preserver like a seat cushion should be standard equipment if considering getting away from the crowd. Reports of good fishing can make some of the easier access areas very popular.

I took a little ride yesterday from Winneconne all the way to Fremont, here is what I found: Those feeling ambitious could put a small boat in by Fin and Feather, only a little bit of ice by the docks. The water is open from L. Winneconne all the way down to the first bend in the river. I then checked out Boom Bay on Poygan. About a half dozen anglers out but not much to show for it, fishing is S L O W. The landing off of Richter Ln. is all busted up, take caution if venturing out there, Boom Bay Bar access is good. Lastly, went to Patridge L. about a dozen fisherman out but not much doing there either. Talked w/ a father and son coming off, no action on northerns, just a few small gills. Think Spring!
