| Just wondering would you use the Short Shank or Long Shank Triple Grips for on shad raps and floaters. I am assuming the short shank#4's. If that is the case what you you use the long shank for. |

| Use long shanks whenever you can get away with it. Times when you can't get away with it would be when the hooks catch on each other and foul, or when you are fishing a very snaggy area, weeds or wood, its a better idea to use short shank. |

Location: kawkawlin, mi | i agree with slipknot. another thing to consider when you change hooks, be sure they dont hinder the action of the lure. they may tone the action down, but that may not be a bad thing either. 
may i add they are a great hook. i use them on allot of cranks and spoons.

Location: Elgin, Illinois | First, they are absolutely great hooks... They stick me, my tackle bags, the carpet, the seats, and my clothes better than any other hook!!!! LOL
Second, I use them in a long shank (where possible) in the biggest size useable (within reason...up to #2) on the front of most new baits (I generally replace the front hook with a red one on all new baits) and old baits when I need to replace a hook. I am inclined in most situation to go for size over length if there is a question of which hook to add to a bait. I think that the length is important, but that gap width is more important. So, I do use some short shanked hooks when I swap out the front treble. |

I will just basically second what the other guys have said so far. Generally speaking I will use long shank triple grips on my cranks whenever possible. The largest key to changing out the hooks to triple grips is making sure that they don't change the action of the crankbait. I will sometimes even use a larger size triple grip than what the stock hook was, as long as it doesn't affect the action. Triple grips are great hooks and you will definetly see an increase in getting fish into the boat.
