Please help me figure out what I am doing wrong.

First off, I must admit that I mainly jig or troll cranks. Whenever I go to either a lindy or a 3-way set up I always end up with line twist. I’m not sure what I am doing wrong. The two most common explanations I’ve heard are speed and reel related. I close my bail manually and I’ve varied my speed from a crawl up to 3 mph (with new line so there is no “memory”) to see if it would make a difference. It still happens. I am using 8-12 lbs mono. Would I be having the same issue with braided? Any suggestions on what I can do to eliminate line twist?

I always start my live bait rigs off with a ball bearing swivel, not a cheap barrel swivel. I' don't have any problems. Hope it helps.

When troling live bait rigs, espacially 3 way rigs, use a good premium ball bearing snap swivel. This should take care of the line twist problems. I use Sampo swivels for this.

i agree with the fellas, a good quality ball bearing swivel should solve your problems. cheaper components dont get the job done. good luck!
