| recently my uncle passed away and left me his tacklebox, rod n reel. Im 26 and havent been fishing really since highschool.
Just curious if I took pics of whats in the tackle box if I could get pointers on what to use n the right way to use it?
Id be fishing off land around High Cliff state park. And maybe other areas around neenah/menasha area. If someone could point out good spots it'd be nice.
The rod n reel I have is a Graphite GS series IM6 Bass Pro shop. The reel is an Abu Garcia cardinal 105. Right now it has 8lb test Trilene XL smooth but Im prolly gonna change that to the strong braided type of line.

Location: Chilton, WI | I don't know much about shore fishing from High Cliff but I do know you can get some walleyes off shore at Calumet County park. Its not too far from High Cliff. We always used to cast Crank baits like Rapalas off the rocks by the harbor there and by the beach area where that little peninsula comes out. The perch or fire tiger colors were always good. The rod and real you have will work fine for that. We always went after dark and sometimes caught some 18-20 inch fish. It should be prime time there within the next month or two I would think. |

| Thanks. Im in the appleton area on calumet street by Copps....any idea on directions how to get there? I am originaly from Sheboygan n dont know my way around here TOO much. |

Location: upper michigan | It looks like there is alot of bass tackle in those boxes some good walleye cranks I only fished lake winn. from a boat so wouldnt know where to start from shore another site with lots of fishing reports is http://www.lake-link.com/fishreports/index.cfm good luck. |

Location: Oshkosh, WI | The advice about casting cranks from shore is about the best advice for shore fishing for walleyes. People seem to do best when the waves are coming into the shore pretty strong - around and after dark. I know people who use hip waders and walk out from different parks around the lake - you want to be on a pretty exposed shoreling, not way back in some bay. Calumet County park is just down the road from high cliff. You can probably also catch smallies and other stuff like that from shore. I think some people slip bobber from shore with some success as well. Fishing from bridges is also a pretty good way to go, Oshkosh is probably not that good right now, but there are probably lots of people fishing on the bridge in winneconne towns up river. I have found some of the folks up river to be pretty territorial about "their" bridge and a bit intolerant of anybody who doesn't know the drill getting in their way. You can fish off shore in Eureka (there is a campground around eureka where you can fish from shore and sometimes catch walleyes and I think they catch whitebass there during that run.

Read the other posts on this site, ask around at the loacal bait shop, join a fishing club, etc.
One thing not to do is post responses like you did here. This will only turn people away from helping you.

one reason that you had 130 views and only 1 post is that most of the people here may not know the area you are referring to or don't fish from shore very often. One thing you could do is float a minnow or crawler under a slip bobber

| Sorry for your loss of your uncle. I didn't answer sooner as I was working all weekend.
There are likely many places to fish from shore. The river in Oshkosh has a few spots. The wayside south of Wendt's towards Fond du Lac used to be a great spot to wade in the late spring, early summer. Cast Rapala's, Husky Jerks, Shad Raps, and if you have them, Little Cleo's.
I said it used to be a great spot. Not sure, as I haven't fished there for many years. But, it's worth a try. As mentioned, join a local club, like Walleyes for Tomorrow, and get involved. You'll surely gain some great info, and likely meet some great new friends. Also, consider entering the FLW League as a co-angler. There are some great anglers you could be paired up with, and you'd learn alot.
