DNR Offers Reward for Information
On Poached Turkeys in Gratiot County
The Department of Natural Resources is asking for the public's help in solving a poaching case involving wild turkeys that took place recently in Gratiot County, according to DNR law enforcement officials. A $500 reward is being offered for the tip that leads to the arrest and conviction of the poacher.
According to DNR law enforcement officials, a Gratiot County resident filed a complaint on March 17 regarding a box he had found containing a dead turkey carcass. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that there were a total of five turkey carcasses in the box. Evidence indicated that the turkeys had been recently harvested. Spring turkey hunting season in Michigan does not begin until April 17. The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this incident can call the DNR Report All Poaching (RAP) Line at 1-800-292-7800. Callers have the option of remaining anonymous when providing information or making a complaint on the RAP Line. If the information leads to an arrest and conviction, the reward will be granted.
The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources for current and future generations.
