I know this is a walleye forum but I'll be heading up this weekend to the Fremont area and will be fishing for catfish as well as walleye. Is it too early for the cats and if not should I be targeting snags with cut bait and what depth? Was up in the fremont area last week and experienced slow walleye fishing. Did manage one real nice eye that was 27 inches down by poygan vertical jigging. Right by one of the side channels leading into poygan. Will the down run still be going on this weekend? Thanks for any info.

Wwolf, I think you mean to ask will the down run have started by this weekend? Lot's of fish up above Shiocton yet. The falling level, time, and temps will hopefully get these fish moving today, so we can see some really good weights for the PWT today and tomorrow. Hopefully, there will be some good fish caught this weekend, too. I need a fish fry!

Cats have been active all the way to New London, I believe they are very mobil right now, looking to spawn soon too I think.
Walleye are around in small groups and the white bass have started a bit.
