FALLING ROCK BAIT, BAR & GRILL WALLEYE CLASSIC

Rain, rain and more rain combined with gusty winds greeted the 22 teams competing at the WAT – Falling Rock, Bait, Bar & Grill Walleye Classic on Saturday and Sunday. Our hosts Len & Sandy Warland once again provided their famous fried chicken and fixins dinner for the competitors at the rules meeting on Friday night.
Despite the weather conditions large baskets of fish were brought to the scale both days by the teams competing for the more than $5,500 in cash and prizes.

Tom Oldenburg of Stoddard, WI took the 1st. place trophy and a check for $1,800 in impressive fashion by fishing alone (partner on vacation) and bringing in a huge 2nd day basket weighing in at 24.40 lbs. for a tournament total of 31.90 lbs. Tom also earned the Okuma “High Performance” Award (2 Insipra spinning reels) for the largest one day basket of fish.
Second place and a check for $1,030 went to the team of Mike Glynn and Maury Schmerbach of Dubuque, IA who racked up a 2 day total of 26.70 lbs. Mike Glynn garnered the “”Big Fish” award by bringing a 9.95 lb. beauty to the scales on day one of the tournament.
Newlyweds Steve & Jan Kopp of Dubuque, IA. captured 3rd. place and a check for $750 by bringing in a total of 23.50 lbs. for the two day event.
