Two years ago I was on some days catching 30 or more small eyes a day. Those went back in and I am thinking, boy in a couple of years it will be a blast catching these fish that are now 18". That is not happening! WHAT do you guys think is going on ?????????????????? ![]()

Member Posts: 538 | It does seem that the 13s and 14s are everywhere and the 15 plus are much more rare, relatively speaking. The large forage base and the agressiveness of the smaller fish are my best guesses. The older the fish, the more selectively they feed. I must say that the "eaters" as they are called, are chunky rascals. Take care, Jim O

Member Posts: 1314 Location: Menasha, WI | Until today, I was catching 8"-10"ers or 17"-19"ers, nothing in between. Today, however, I zoned in on the 13"-14"ers; gonna have a nice lunch.

not to start a war, but have you seen the fish all the locals keep? it amazes me how many 11-12 inchers they keep, its pathetic. It can't be good for that long, its going back to the way it was in the 90's.

The big fish I am getting are puking all kinds of bait up in my well. This as you guys know isn't good! The big fish for me are all on bottom trolling leadcore 1.8-2.1mph.Lots of fish high but little ones are to much competition like jim said.Crawlers don't last long with 4inch whities and 9-12 inch walleyes!!!!! Member Posts: 1406 | Big fish are still moving! Think outside the box, we had a low water year and they were waaaaay up north! Believe you me there are plenty of fish 15-25" and this will be evident at the weighins this weekend! The Boys have been on 18-23's all week and they are not pulling boards. Good Luck Tyee

Member Posts: 344 Location: Manitowoc WI | I definately agree with Tyee. And the comment on the fishery going down in the future is obsurd. the hatch from the last 5 years is good enough to sustain the lake for the next 15years. and there is no sign of a rapid decrease in reproduction. This lake will need alot more then crazy locals to hurt the walleye population. I think an invasive species is a better prediction.
