Location: Berlin | Hey guys, I found a great spot for big flat heads and I have just been catching them with my walleye presentations. I think there may be some monsters in the area. What do you recommend for huge Flat heads for bait and assuming it is live bait, how do you hook them and what kind of rig do you use?

| I use live bluegills, suckers,or bullhead, dog fish(6 to 8 inch) all hooked thru the lips, with a stinger hook in the back,on a standard river rig. Remove the spikes on the bullhead. They will always pick up the bait run for a while, then stop and eat it. The trick is to be patient when setting the hook.I can't think of a better eating fish than the flathead. Take the backstraps off and cut them into chunks, bread and deep fry.Soon there will be lots of them in the fox by my house, they start coming about this time every year. Have fun..

| Suckers seem to be great flathead bait.I used to set bankpoles on the wolf for them and did best on suckers and bluegills.Best tasting fish in the river. |
