The Sheboygan Walleye Club held a Cabela's qualifier out of Calumet County Park Sunday July 2nd, with most teams catching at least a few fish. My son Brandon and I managed 4 fish out in the mud pulling cranks. Best lures were Deep KABOOM Shiners and Deep Little Rippers in Purple Prism and Captains Choice. The winners were pulling cranks in the rocks somewhere on the east shore and a mixture of cranks and spinners in the mud.

We marked a ton of fish throughout the day but couldn't get them to go. It seemed they started to come up out of the deep mud later in the day. I assume this was due to Saturday night's storm pushing them into the mud.

On saturday hits the reefs off Oshkosh in the rough water and managed only 2 all day..not even the usual dinks. With how rough the water was I thought the reefs would be on fire. I thought about venturing into deep water for a mud bite..but the waves made my 18ft. boat think otherwise especially when I saw a 20 ft. tundra coming off the water because of the waves. Tried pulling cranks on the garlic reefs, asylum reefs, and further north by rasmussens, and then in front of menominee park on a reef out there. The cranks by cotton cordell have really done well for me this year, but not saturday. There is a blue, gold, and red one that works really well along with an all blue one with black on top that up to saturday were just hammering them. Hope to make it out there soon and work the mud as the reef bite might finally be ending. Water temp getting to high?

I was out tonight for a couple of hours till the lightning chased me off the lake. They were jumping in the boat tonight. I actually had a shad jump in the splashwell of the boat while I was on my way in. That turned out to be the only fish I boated though. I did have something decent on but I didn't even get the board in and it let go. I was pulling harnesses in the mud on the south end.

Been having real good luck today and yesterday fishing in the mud all over off the east side 1.5 to 3 miles out, been pulling in some fish over 18" which is about time i have been able to land some of them instead of the little guys. Crank baits running about 13' - 16' deep. Caught on a few different colors brighter lures did seem to be a bit better however.

Was out yesterday morning for a little while. We had five walleyes trolling in the mud off of county park. Biggest was 15 inches. Got all but one on wally divers, 50-60 ft back. Then took the family out to see the fireworks and decided to troll. Trolled for a little over an hour and had three and missed another one. 17 1/2, 18, 20 1/2 all on cranks.

Forgot the crawlers in the fridge this morning so I pulled cranks as I bounced around in the wind over and along the NW reefs. Couple of dinks, a few nice smallies, and the standard sheeps. Started getting pretty rough so I called it a day at 10:30.
