Dean Arnoldussen and his Co-Angler Partner Keith Strauss were the first ones to cross the stage, and their 5 fish bag weighing 37# 14 oz leads the tourney where you need over 29# to break the top 10. More to come.

1-Dean Arnoldussen-Keith Strauss-37# 14oz-5 fish
2-Paul DeVoss-Chad Wertepny-36-3-5 fish
3-Ted Takasaki-Randy Ludwig-33-8-5 fish
4-Jeff Ryan-Todd Mueller-31-10-5 fish
5-Richard Boggs-Randy Reek-31-8-5 fish
6-Gordy Powers-James Mc Carten-30-13-5 fish
7-John Mathews-Flo Swank-30-5-5 fish
8-Wayne Butz-Scott Johnston-29-6-5 fish
9-Dan De Jaeghere-Jason Shull-29-4-5 fish
10-Ted Merdan-Lynn Jurrens-29-3- 5 fish

That's the top 10. Only 2 teams had all fish alive, and one duo weighed 5 dead fish because of a malfunction. Many anglers reported limiting out early and then struggling to keep their fish alive and healthy until weigh-in time. There were quite a few frustrated anglers, but you have to go down to 41st place to get out of the 20# mark.
There was a definite abundance of fish in excess of 7# routinely paraded off of the stage. The conditions were beautiful, with sun all day and a breeze out of the East that provided a nice chop. The next three days are forecast for hot temps in the 90's, and southerly winds of only 5 mph, which could make keeping those early limits alive tough to do again.
All anglers had success and most reported that they were all pretty much fishing the same area. It was just a matter of who got bit.
Many teams showed up a fish shy, or with a few small fish to go with a couple of hogs, but that's what happens when you roll the dice in a no-cull tournament.
If tomorrow turns out to be anything like today, it will take 100+#'s to make it to the Top Ten on Saturday.
Pictures to follow later.
Bear with me. Sworrall is chasing muskies, I'm doing this alone....for the first time. I'm about to download 100 pictures, and hopefully I'll be able to treat you to some good photos of what was an oustanding start to this tournament.

Great job, Beav! Turn on your instant messenger, by logging into your hotmail account and firing it up. I'll be up awhile...we can also talk tomorrow morning at 8 AM if you are back from the morning pictures. I'll help you get that day one album up.

The bite looks good, although the weather is going to be a big factor the next couple days. Gordy did well, I see!

It was 93 here today.

Sworrall from Dryden, Ontario

By the way, welcome aboard, Beav!

Just a dumb question, anyone know if Rich Boggs is Wade Boggs brother? He sure looks alot like the old baseball player from the Mets and Red Sox.

So if the fish dies does that fish still count? Just curious.

Sounds like everyone is fishing around Geano's or Volk's (12 miles out). Any good weights coming from farther north?

Flight times are 3:00, 3:30 and 4:00.

Last night they were done by 5:00 or little after.

I was home by 5:25.
