Can anyone tell me how the water depths are on pool 9. Is the fishing picking up? Are the panfish still on the wingdams? Any walleye action?

I use this sight to check water depths. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=arx&gage=mcgi4&typ... We were up by Harpers Ferry 8-12-06 and caught a few walleyes. The bass were thick and were hitting cranks while trolling. We worked mostly backwaters.

Crestliner, I was on pool 9 last week south of black hawk park. Sunfish were being caught on wingdams, desoto bay, and some small points on the main channel with rock. Some decent crappies were also found on main channel brush piles with a tube jig/minnow. We tried wing dams with cranks and crawlers, but only caught bass and sunfish. I had two fish on that felt like walleyes, but came loose before making it to the boat. We never tried willow cats, so that my be worth a try. The water was dropping the whole weekend we were there. It is higher than the low times in July, but the water may be a little below average right now.

weekend of 8/20/06 crestliner and I went out above blackhawk park almost to genoa fishing all the snags and holes we could find, caught a hand full of blue gills and sunfish on tube jigs and nite crawlers. got one real nice fish(maybe walleye] up to boat but got off before we got him in the boat.and worst of all we caught a boat full of 6 to 10 inch stinking bass. got sick of the bass turds and saturday afternoon and evening went to our honey hole back here in Prairie du chien at wyalusing state park, where we have always caught our limit of pan fish except this time only a couple, humorasly blaming lack of fish on having our wifes along, but more than likely due to the extreme low water levels. slow start sunday morning due to the thick fog, so thick that we had to follow the gps to find our way couldnt see 50 feet in front of us.pretty much same results as saturday, but fun was had by all so it was a good weekend. talked to a guy at blackhawk park he said the northern were biting big time, also said that we would have a better chance of catching quality walleyes in the fall, said we should go to the Minnesota sloughs in the fall so we are planing a fall fishing trip to the area. thanks for the tips and info good luck to all and keep on fishing
