Location: Lake City MN | I wish that I had something better to say about the walleye bite but it has been tough. We can't blame it on the water temps as they have cooled nicely down into the low seventies and the flow has picked up to what looks like a favorable level. These fish should be putting the fall feed bag on any day now, come on fish... The real story as of mid summer has been the fantastic panfish bite. We have been in the middle of one of the best slab crappie and sunfish bites that I have seen on these waters in a few years. I must also add that the cat bite has been the best that I have ever seen, It is almost a given to put 20 to 30 of these fish in the boat in a few hours, lots of fun. The bass have been hit and miss for the most part, but you can usually put some quality fish in the boat if you work at it. Some clients that I had out a few days ago landed one of the biggest smallies that I have seen here in awhile. I will try to post a picture of the pig bellow. I guess what I am trying to say is that if you are willing to poke around and fish for whats willing to bite this has been another great summer here on the river. Thank goodness for variety. Good luck to all and have at em....
