| I am about to purchase a new 2006 Trophy center console with a new 2005 Merc
E.F.I. 150hp. I don't know much about this 2 cycle engine. Dose anyone know of
any specific problems with this merc ? I hope to have this rig for many years. I wonder if this engine will go the distance. Any info on this motor is appreciated.
Thanks

Location: Rhinelander | The Mercury EFI 2 strokes are pretty much bulletproof, great motors and very strong in the 150 block. Run good fuel and Mercury oil, take care of her and she'll last a very long time. |

| The Merc 150 is probably the best motor Mercury ever built. I'm sure there have been a couple bad eggs over the years, but you'll have that with anything. I ran one for two years and never had a problem with it. I know a few guys that are still running some 135 and 150 merc motors from the mid 90's. If you maintain it properly and take good care of it, it should last you a long time.

Location: LaCrosse, WI | The Merc 150 EFI's are good motors. The only problem I've ever had with mine is fuel mileage. I will be getting an OptiMax for my next motor. The EFI has been a strong runner and pretty fast, but for the amount of running I do, the Opti is more economical in the long run.
You should be happy with the EFI. As others stated, run decent fuel and run some QuickClean (I think that's what it's called) once in a while. |

| My 2001 150 EFI has been very reliable, except for a few small problems with some sensors. These were replaced under warranty. The engine starts easily and runs well. They are a lot cheaper and more reliable than the Opti-Max. Does anyone know if they are still available? |
