Member Posts: 118 | WALLEYE ANGLERS TRAIL Dubuque Advertiser Walleye Challenge September 23 & 24, 2006 Trempealeau, WI. Moderate temperatures, light winds, and partly cloudy skies greeted the 18 teams competing at the WAT – Dubuque Advertiser Walleye Classic on Saturday and Sunday. Our host Randy Aird of the Dubuque Advertiser hosted the event by providing a fantastic meal for the competitors at the rules meeting on Friday night. The teams were competing for the coveted “Team of the Year” award along with more than $6,000 in cash and prizes. 2006 TEAM OF THE YEAR GALEN BREMMER & EUGENE FAGA Statistics: # of teams: 18 # of fish to scale: 60 Total weight of fish: 146 lbs. Average weight: 2 lbs. Big Fish: 7.20 lbs. The team of Neil Hammargren, Waterloo, IA and Doug Newhoff, Cedar Falls, IA took the 1st. place trophy and a check for $1,450 in impressive fashion by bringing in a huge 2nd. day basket (5 fish) weighing in at 23.70 lbs. for a tournament total of 27.45 lbs. Neil & Doug also earned the Okuma “High Performance” Award (2 Insipra spinning reels) for the largest one day basket of fish and the “Big Fish” award ($180) for a 7.20 whopper they brought in on day 2 of the tournament. Second place with a check for $860 went to the husband & wife team of Steve & Jan Kopp from Dubuque, IA. who racked up a 2 day total of 27.20 lbs. The team of Mike Glynn & Maury Schmerbach of Dubuque, IA. captured 3rd. place and a check for $$650 by bringing in a total of 18.50 lbs. for the two day event. Kevin Oyen & John Marshall of Dubuque, IA placed 4th. in the tournament and received a check for $600 with a 2 day total weight of 17.60 lbs. Pete Jopke, Mazomanie WI & James Myszkewicz, Burlington, WI placed 5th and also received a check for $600 by bringing in a 2 day total of 16.35 lbs. AWARDS Team of the Year – Galen Bremmer & Eugene Faga - $550 & Early Bird Bonus $250 Mack’s Lure – Catch more fish with Mack’s award - $50.00 tackle credit Jerry Boardman & Gary Schreiner Falling Rock Bait, Bar & Grill – Middle of the Channel award - $100 Galen Bremmer & Eugene Faga Northern Battery – Charging up the field award – 2 Northern (3100 batteries) Tom Oldenburg & Jeff Munson Richter Anchor – 25 lb. award – 25 lb.
