Location: Menasha | Is there anyway the FLW would drop their 250 HP rule. Verado is making the 275 and Yamaha makes the 300. This rule seems obsolete if the boats are rated for the bigger motors, let them fish? |

Location: Rhinelander | It looks like a couple major boat builders are planning 300HP rated Walleye boats, not sure what the FLW will do, but I'll be happy to interview Sonny or Mark on the issue at the Championship in a couple weeks. |

| Heard from a 275 Verado owner that it's the exact motor as the 250 Verado except you need to use premium fuel to make 275hp. Supposedly only diff is the sticker. |

| I personally don't care what they do with the rule, but i highly doubt they will change it. Its the same rule in the bass tour, and those boats have been rated for over 250 for years. |

| I had a 250 Verado and now I have a 275 Verado.
The computer is programmed different.
The gear case is different, too.
The two engines even sound different.
 I can actually hear the 275

How fast do we really need to go on water? I was out this past weekend in a friend's bass boat doing 75mph. That's too darn fast on water.
I hope we hit a limit soon and stick to it for safety reasons.

I cruise at 50mph, for some that's white knuckling. But I agree, I have no problem with the horsepower limit. They say speed kills, I disagree, speed breaks sh!t when it comes to boats. |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Yup, guess I'm starting to show my age. 75mph was way too fast. When your skin on your face starts flapping in the wind, you're too old and you're going too fast
I really felt that we were driving beyond our ability to react in a dangerous situation. If that makes sense?
I never felt this way going in my boat and it'll max out at 58mph. those extra 17 mph made a really big difference in my opinion. But then again, I'm getting old

Location: LaCrosse, WI | I'll say this about the HP rule. I think it's good that there is a limit on it. Some of the guys I've met in the League are there just to show off what they have and how fast they can go. I can't walk 20 yards without hearing someone brag up their boat.
On the other hand, maybe if they had 300s they'd all be so busy racing from Point A to Point B, that those of us with our little 150s could have all the best spots to ourselves

| I expect the rule will be modified. Why? Money, of course. Yamaha will want to market that 300 HP motor in the FLW tournaments. When? I will say when Evinrude has a 300 HP to match it, not before.
I believe the PWT is at 275 right now, as that is Merc's big motor.
I remember when the Merc Nationals had a MINIMUM 50 HP rule? I only had a 40! they still have that?

| I agree with you Sunshine.
I just can't think of an arguement why 250 hp is not 'enough' for the tournament. A potential outcome of leaving it at 250 'could' be a little added R&D time spent on durability, reliability factors, instead of the continuous push to 'bigger'.
250 is enough. Let the non-tournament fisherman market determine if there is enough reason to build 300 hp boat / motor combo's.
The big motors out there are actually rather dependable, but it would be nice to see more real advancements with out current hp limitations. Change our expectations and raise the bar in a way other than size.
