| Tensions were a bit strained last night, but everyone got to say there piece, and ask their questions. Lots of opposition, a couple in favor of these regulations.
Personally, I am opposed to the establishment of any new legislation regulating tournaments. It appears the main perception and driving force, even though they deny it, is that some fish die in Live Release tournaments. Access is the other main issue.
The thing I took from most of those who spoke and asked questions is that we tourney anglers are being singled out, and will be asked to pay more than other users of the same resource. AIS, is one of those issues that we are singled out for, but not the recreational boaters, or anglers. Livewell Police it was termed.
The most driving point was that this was started by a legislator, not the DNR. We need to look at who is running for office in our areas, and determine where the candidates satnd on this bill. I'll vote against anyone who supports it. I'll be working on that today.
I knda felt for Pat Schmalz, as he took a bit of heat as the bad guy. But he appeared to have a tough skin. The other guy kinda looked like he enjoyed the heat. Just my observation.
Good to see Tom Kemos, Jim Coon, Dean and Wendy, Casey Bohn, Jimmy Hughes, and about 120 other folks. |
