| I've decided after many years that this is the year I'm finally going to take some time off from guiding in August and go to Alaska for a week and do some fishing.
There are so many options to choose from that I thought I'd ask and see what anyone here has to say about any experiences they've had with a trip like this.
I'd prefer to fish salmon, and /or steelhead in a river, maybe from a drift boat or wading, as well as a day of halibut fishing thrown in.
I'd appreciate any and all advice. Thanks! |

Location: Rhinelander | Hey Jack,
Look at the muskie board and do a search for Doc Esox. he lives there, and REALLY knows the fishing in his area. Drop him a private message. |

| Jack, Alaska is a great place to visit for outdoor adventures. Where in the state were you thinking of going?
By August all the kings will be dead, but you can have a blast getting silvers in the cricks as well as the salt. Halibut as well as lingcod get real big up north.
Bring the best raingear you can get and understand the fact that everything costs more in Alaska than here in the lower 48.
As for steelhead in my 9 years of visiting i've never fished for them. Rainbows i've gotten
If you want steelhead visit the great lakes I just got back from a 2 day float on the Grand River in Ohio. It very much reminded me of being "up there"
