Location: Freedom, WI | I am planning on going on an ice fishing trip somewhere in the middle of January. I was thinking Lake Winnibigosh or Devils Lake, but would like to get some input as to where would be my best bet. I was also thinking Petenwell since I have had some good days on the ice out there as well. Are there any other places you guys would consider for a 4 day trip? Thanks for the feedback! |

Location: Freedom, WI | I was thinking Bay De Noc myself, but I am not familiar with ice fishing the area and was looking for a place with fast action! I will have to consider it, since I already have the Michigan lisencse anyways! Thanks for the input, keep it coming! |

Location: McFarland, WI | My humble opinion is that if you go to Bay De Noc you will need a guide or some good information to have fast action. I fish open water with great success but find it hard to get on fish consistently through the ice. If someone is willing to give up the secrets to fast action up there, I'm all ears. Devil's lake perch fishing has hit the skids but walleye and pike fishing can be good. It was a dusk and dawn bite last time I was there. Not like the good old days. I'm going to fish the Minocqua area(Rainbow flowage, Trout L., Buckskin L. etc) between the holidays if the ice is any good and I'll report on that venture. If anyone has a hot perch lake up there let me know.

Location: Darboy USA | I take a trip up north to fish for 4-5 days every year and wouldn't want to go anywhere else, beside maybe LOTW or Winnie for perch. We fish North Twin, South Twin, LVD, Pioneer, and others and do well on walleyes, northern and panfish. The panfish action is very consistent, but you have to sort through some smaller ones usually. It's relatively easy to get a limit though if you know what you're doing.
I've even thought of going to Mille Lacs or Canada, but for the money and time I will keep hitting up our own lakes here in WI where I know the lake and the fish will bite.
If you need more info, let me know, but I think you are missing the boat if you don't try the lakes in northern WI first. |

Location: Freedom, WI | WOW!! Why can't we do that on Winnebago? That is like the action on Petenwell, except the fish are all over 15"! Does anyone know off hand how far of a drive that is from Appleton? I may have to look into that a little more! |

| LOTW out of MN would be a great bet. They move the shacks and try to stay on the fish. LBDN is some slow fishing, however I have a sleeper avail as soon as safe to go!!! Dennis |
