Member Posts: 794 Location: Elgin, Illinois | I am interested first in the factory's commitment to customer service... Prompt and competent warranty service (not two or three months turn around at the factory) and qualified, a competent customer service driven dealer, then the boat and finally it's price... So, what can I expect from the factory and where is a good G3 Dealer to work with... Edited by hgmeyer 3/7/2007 1:27 PM

When comparisons are made between products I think it’s also important to compare the companies, their warranties and how they stand behind their products. The bottom line with G3 (a Yamaha boat co.) is; they not only build-in the best quality for the dollar, into their boats, they offer the best warranty and stand behind their product better than the competitors. Read G3’s warranty compared to the others – there is no mention of “lifetime limited” or “some exclusion may apply” or “see your dealer for specific warranty and service information” it simply says; It is an extended warranty that covers “main riveted and welded seams in the hull to include keel, outside chine and transom seams for the duration of ownership of the first retail purchaser.” also is transferable up to five years. This is proudly printed, one sentence, simple language, inside the back cover of their brochure. G3’s warranty is not a co-pay or pro-rated warranty it is a true warranty as stated. G3, truly is a great company with a great line-up of products. G3 is the fastest growing aluminum boat company in the industry. Look at G3's market standings for the last five years the only direction G3 has moved is up, you will be impressed. At the factory they built a 88,000 sq. ft. addition to double production, up and running last October. G3's website has a dealer finder at <g3boats.com> If I can answer any questions or help you, feel free to call me 701-799-0948 Lamarr

Member Posts: 1195 Location: Orland Park, IL | Lamarr hit the nail on the head. Customer Service and dealer network/relationship is important to me, as is warranty. There are a couple of places in Illinois, though really havent heard anything positive about the one up north. The one out west really didnt have much knowledge as there was huge disparity in pricing. There is one in michigan, but seemed kinda far for me. I went with Mid States Marine in Fremont Wisconsin. Top notch. Solid yamaha mechanics ( who is also the owner). Honest pricing and service. Over the summer I broke my radio antenna and livewell tube. I asked em for replacement and met em at the Milwaukee Boat Show. Got my parts and am good to go. Plus the pro team is nice ruffola and nate p especially. Had a nice chat with my 6 yo. He loved it. If I get a new 20footer thats where I am going.

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | M Komo, The 250 HPDI was discontinued in 2004. The 250 four stroke is what we're putting on these boats.

The F250 because of the 25 inch shaft. I think the largest HPDI with a 25 inch shaft is a 200HP. Lamarr

I saw the new G3 last night - it was Lamar's boat. I walked away feeling that G3 has taken a giant step in the right direction. The boat 'style' is a significant departure from the last year's tournament boats. Reading the previous comments, I don't want to say it was a Pro V, but so you can have some type of image, the Fisherman series Lund is to the Pro V, what last years G3 is to the new G3 boat. The rod locker will probably hold your fly rod - well OK, it won't hold your fly rod but it will hold rods up to 9 foot long! Soooo, you may not have to break down your 8'6" trolling rods to put them away. I'm not sure I like how the rod locker cover pushed down between the consoles. Due to the ice, I did not pull hard enough to open it. Seemed like too tight of a fit. The livewell is rear located, and huge. Lots of room behind the consoles for great lakes trolling presentation - I think the great lakes anglers will like that. I thought the passenger dash had a nice design, with a tray behind the windshield that was 'lowered'. Seemed like it would hold a couple items on the dash rather effectively without having to put everything away before getting on plane. The depth did remind me of a Pro V feel. It's such a large departure from last years boat, I anticipate there will be details to work out in the future. But it does appear to be a big step in the right direction, and I anticipate the model will become a long term offerring for G3.

I find it interesting that the people that often have the strongest opinions usually have no "dog in the fight". A 21-foot walleye boat with a 250hp motor is a real option for a very small percentage of fishermen. Lund and G3 and all the other manufacturers will attest to the small production numbers of these boats when compared to their other models. I had the chance to crawl in the new 21-foot G3 and it is huge! As for my use, I find it easier to load and unload and tow my V185 Randy Reek NPAA #860

Randy it would be a huge seller if they all were not 50-60 thousand dollars. MI & OH alone would sell more 21' boats than anything else if they were afordable to the anglers. It's NOT that the market would'nt support them, it's that few anglers are willing to part with that kind of money! If I fished the great Lake all the time I would'nt own anything but a 21' boat, and since they have more anglers and boat owners in both those states that run even larger rigs than most states it still makes sence to offer them. I looked at a 26' boat this past week at the sportshow and it was the same price as a 620, yet it had a sleeper and was a bigger and loaded up nice. I listened to people say "look at that, it's 56 thousand dollars" like it was a ton of money. I said 3 boats over is a fishing boat that costs the same, they said I was nuts. When they saw the price for a fishing boat, they told me "They can't sell any of those, can they?" So the old saying holds true, if you build it some will have to have it, you know the old don't get out done by the guy next to you. I think it's a symbol thing to some people and the must for others?
