New User Posts: 1 | I under stand they are refuges but people fish nearby which is my intention. Not being from the area they would be a starting spot to say the least. ie fish coming and going.

Anyone know where the spawn is at? I know some fish have spawned out, about what percent has yet to spawn? The river is up and should hold for a while now. Should be some good male fishing coming up.

Member Posts: 166 Location: Freedom, WI | It seems that most of the fish have spawned now. We have been getting spawned out females on the rafts for 12 days now, but every night seems to be a little better than the previous. Not big numbers of fish, but a couple every night. The fish are much more scattered out this year than years in the past, but its still better than last year! Can't wait to get out there this week!

I read a couple of times about the Little Wolf now being off limits. Where can I find more details on water that's now "off limits" on the Wolf? Little Wolf never used to be closed during the run. What other areas are closed? Thanks for leading me in the right direction onthis one guys. Thanks

Member Posts: 859 Location: Appleton wi | navigation up the little wolf hasnt been possible for years with the falling trees blocking the access but you can travel a few houndred yards up or so but not far. If the dnr closed it it would be in the regulation booklet! Typically poeple fish from shore by getting permission from farmers and land owners!

Member Posts: 1314 Location: Menasha, WI | I've also seen posted elsewhere that the Little Wolf was closed for the run. However, it's not true. "Little Wolf River (downstream from the dam at Manawa): Hook and line fishing is open all year for all fish species except muskellunge, northern pike, lake sturgeon, trout, paddlefish and threatened or endangered fish. There is no minimum length limit on walleye. Sauger may not be harvested The minimum length limit on northern pike is 26" P. 46-47

In the spring I've never had a problem getting up stream a few bends at least. G reat areas to catch suckers with the kids in the past. Also, from the mouth up about 4-5 bends both sides of the Little Wolf are DNR owned land open to the public. Thanks anyhow for the reply and have a good season.

Member Posts: 1406 | Water levels dropped dramatically the past few days and continue to fall. There are a couple of things going on now, there are still a LOT of fish north of Shiocton as well there are a number of weigh fish that have made it back to Freemont and are heading south. Don't count on anything above Shiocton making it back in time for the PWT unless we get a huge storm to roll through and muddy up the water as there will be plenty of food visible. As for the larger fish in and around Freemont to Winneconnie, Good Luck, If the weather stays consistant you just might see a few come to the scales with 5-20" fish. BUT keep your eyes open for the guy with (4)14" and one 27". It's gonna be another tough year come game day, but at least this time they will catch fish. It sure would be nice to see another year with multiple 25# baskets. Good Luck Tyee

Member Posts: 1406 | Schmidt, the fry was and is great, been eatin walleyes nearly everyday. Sat was a bad day only because of the time! Which is one of the reasons I seldom fish tournaments. Sunday we found fish in the shioc area. Last night the spring hearings got in the way but the rest of the week belongs to me! My normal fishing hours are 5-8 and that goes for AM and PM. The 8 hours in the middle I have to make a living like most people. God knows if that were ment to include fishing I would have been born with gills like my boys.
