Looking like another warm-up day here on the Bay waters! Yesterdays temps. reaching into the mid to upper 60's has pushed the waters to warm and the Walleye going full steam ahead with their spawning activities. All noted rivers from south the Cedar northward to the Whitefish/Rapid seeing good signs of spawning fish.
At this time all boat launches having there ramps in and seeing some activities with boating traffic at all of them whether it being getting motors running to fishermen now starting their fishing activity after the Perch.
Perch tackle consisting of the 2-hook rigs fished off bottom or slip-floats baiting with wigglers and small minnows.
Seeing several groups of boats in the Gladstone narrows as well the upper Bay in and around the Days River and Nelsons Bay.
Seeing too some trollers in search of early season Splake.
Tackle choices using Rapalas in bright colors (oranges, etc.) and trolling the shallow shoreline flats in water 12 feet and shallower.
Still hearing of some good catches of Walleye being taken down off the Menominnee River by Marinette. Best baits still being lead-head jigs fished vertical/stinger hooks and fathead minnows.
Some reports of a few Brown Trout being taken by trollers.
Steelheaders seeing some fish in the local rivers; Days, Whitefish and Cedar but hearing of better catches going on the Manistque River.
Spawn and yarn hooks still best bait choices.
