I live in Wisconsin and bought a boat from someone in another state. The boat is registered in that state until the end of '07. Is there a legal or a practical reason to register in WI this year?

No legal reason until it expires. You can register a boat in any state.

In Michigan, you have 30 days to get an out of state boat registered.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I am good to go until '08. As far as proudly proclaiming I'm from Wisconsin, all anyone has to do is hear me talking football (PACKERS) or about my latest "crawlering expedition".

I thought that too.
then when I went to register it, they wanted my bill of sale. Then they told me-I had to pay for last year, and a penalty as well.
Get it licensed properly. They will find out.
