Is Pioneer Inn being rebuilt currently? If so, do you have an idea when they will be reopened for business? THanks.

The Pioneer Inn is doom and gloom.......Ownership has multiple resorts and they do not have immediate plans for re-building. The Marina is in desperate need of repair and numerous boaters have left the Pioneer including myself.

There has been years of promises but no results.......The property is currently for sale; $17,000,000.00.

I thought the reason the rebuild of the part by the mouth was stopped was because it was on land that was filled in and the DNR stopped it?

No matter, something should be done there.

DNR stopped it is correct.....but it wasn't about land-fill, it was about set-backs and the re-zoning of Condo's.......The DNR owns x-number of feet around the Island......as well as the property is actually own by the DNR under a very long term lease and to be leased to for public use......as resorts etc......but the condo idea violated the DNR lease......It is a large can of worms........

I thought it was something like that. Do you see anything happening to clean that mess up in the forseeable future?

Thanks for the replies. What a shame, had a lot of good memories there with the kids. Loved the fact I could keep my boat at the marina while we stayed there. Somebody had to have a bright idea of the condo/resort thing instead of just renovating the units they had without tearing the whole thing down. Got too greedy I guess!

Jason,

Why don't you try getting a job with an oil company. I think they could afford to pay you 17 million a year.

It would take millions to get it back on its feet.........Winter always took a financial toll, way to far off Hwy 41 for daily motel stays..........Now there is absolutely no business, no weddings, and no business seminars.......A busted down old marina from the late 60's early 70's, and a supporting bankrupt X-Hilton and convention center accross the river.

It would have to be built to accomodate travelers and Oshkosh residents. The Pioneer needs the support of local residents.....Especially a major restraunt chain that is economically priced and entertainment weekly.

But most importantly....... "Good" management........I have seen new ownerships "3" times with each one getting worse.

Now they have lost the majority of there big boaters.........Each bigger boat spent alot of money weekly........What a sad deal....

The Pioneer Inn........Best location on Lake Winnebago.....!!!!!!!!
