I can tell you that if you have a small boat or canoe this is a good time to be on the Wolf River. I like to look for really good shoreline structures that are now out of the water. I have a few rock piles I discovered this time of year. The low water has also put a good number of northern pike in the river as the back waters are very low too. A spinner bait tossed at logs, points and weeds should produce some nice fish. I took pictures the other day for a gentleman that had a 37 and 39 inch northern pike as the top fish of 7 over 30 inches for the afternoon. All but one that was hooked too bad, were released. Walleye have been tough except for the few who know of a couple of specific spring holes that have cool water. Some bass are around too, but it's been very tough. Water levels are just 20% above the lowest levels ever recorded and at less then 50% of average flow for this time of year. You can walk across the river in front of the New London boat ramp. Small boats are still using the ramp but all boaters should use extra care due to the low water as there is stuff sticking out of the water that rarely sees sunshine.
