| I'm heading over tommorrow afternoon and thinking of going out at Oconto. I've only fished this area one trip. Am I starting in the right place? Will probably hit Geanos and other areas near Oconto. Sunday morn may head for Marinette?? Any thoughts would be great! Thanks- Dennis |

| thanks PS! I left to guick and just saw your post. I'm in the room on my phone & can't pm u. We went out from Oconto & took the break south, only 1 perch. We pulled cranks but will try crawlers in the morn. Will head towards Geanos I think. It's just me & my 7yr old so even a sheep or cat would be fun for him! Any place I should try? | Dh,
Launch at Park 2 out of Occonto and turn left and start running Crawler Harnesses in 6-8 feet of water 45 back with no weights at 1.2-1.3 mph. Firetiger #5 Colorado blades with the Chartruese back are best, but if you don't have them, Perch/Gold back or Purple/Charturese combo will work. You can continue to troll North and catch fish a long way. If you have not launched at Park 2, stay close to the rocks on your right as you go out, there is a sand bar on the left side you will get stuck on.
I have not fished Ganoes yet, but I think it may be at least a week too early. I was out on University bay 3 times in the last 2 weeks and that same setup on the East Shore was fantastic if you want to catch 16-23 inch fish, we were getting 15-20 fish every morning.

Keep up the good work. Long ago, I recall the earlier version of this site was a constant exchage of information and no BS from blowhards hiding under "guest".
I suspect it's popularity has drawn those with nothing to add but only to bloviate.
BTW, that hot bite out of Stockbridge sure took a dive on today's coldfront. Tomorrow should be better.

Location: McFarland, WI | PS I enjoy you posts immensely. Thanks for reminding me about the chartreuse purple combo. Has anyone made that blade commercially or am I stuck with my poor paint job. I have a small salmon spoon in that color that I use in place of the colorado and it has worked on bago. I hope I have not exposed someones secret weapon using Mich stingers as blades. I would have considered that Oconto bite as common knowledge. See you at Gaenos, keep that motor up.

Michigan Stinger has a spoon in purple/chartreuse its called Pooh Bear but it’s a custom color, Pooh Bear is a charter on Erie and the spoon is named after him. Give Den a call at Sportsmen’s Outpost in Vermillion he can get them for you. “Guest” a word of caution do not bother using a small Pooh Bear blade on a crawler harness say with purple an chartreuse beads on the Bay, that combination doesn’t work. | I sort of met PS at the Calumet CTY boat launch a few weeks ago, my buddy and I were coming in the same time PS was, he asked how we did and I told him(not to good) He was nice enough to fill me in on how he did, where he did it, and what he was using. Life is not a tournament for everyone.
Believe it or not, there were recreational anglers LONG BEFORE there were those like you. (Not saying that every tourney angler is a like you, far from it... some people take it to the extreme, though). I, as well as 99% of the rest of the guys on this site love and appreciate P.S' reports. If you don't, then don't read them.
Incidently, do you guys have any suggestions for spinner combos (blade and bead color) for GB, especially the lower end? I've always done well on hammered copper hatchets and chartruse faceted beads up north, but spinners seem to be hit or miss for me at the south end.
By the way, a year ago I vowed to quit fishing because of guys like "guest," but I guess when it is in your blood, it is tough to give it up. $5.00 a gallon gas will before %#$! like him will!

| Hey Mark, Nice weekend. Hope the garage sale went well and the wife did not sell the boat. We had a real nice fish on today, 7 to 8 lbs. but my novice friend tried to lift it into the boat instead of telling me we need a net. Fishing for fun so what the heck. It would have been his biggest fish. I can imagine the thoughts running through his head after that one. |

| Otis the last few days on GB I've done pretty well with a silver #6 hatchet with a purple and a yellow stripe painted sideways across it. I had to paint up a few more in the boat because they were working so well. Otherwise I had a #6 colorado light blue and yellow that was on fire, but when I ran the same blade in #5....wouldn't get a bump. Hope it helps |

| Even with the hot tip we never boated a single eye. I don't think I stayed shallowe enough, I was afraid of getting stuck and my 7 yr old can't steer w/my remote so I couldn't check the spinners much. Usually by the time I did we had stinkin perch! Going to have to go to tattles? Any other tips to keep perch/junk fish off?? I would really like to run cranks what are your thoughts? Thanks, Dennis L |

I go up there. As far as how to keep the junk off, I've used power worms with decent success, and they really cut back on the junk (I'm not sure exactly why, but it makes me wonder if you don't cut back on the walleyes, too...).
One other thing I've done with decent success is trolling big thundersticks, but the bite has to be going good for this it seems. |
