Finally my Terrova has arrived and now I need to get it mounted. I've always bought used completely rigged boats in the past and so I'm unsure of how to proceed. The 36 volt plug is already there and wired so I only need to deal with fastening to the bow. Is it acceptable to just bolt to the bow or is it advisable to first mount a plate and if so what brand? Any other things I should be looking for?

I would suggest a plate of some kind. I believe Minnkota makes there own. And that is the one I would use if I were you.

Does anyone know where I can buy a quick release mount in the Oshkosh/Appleton area?

Gander, Fleet and Scheels all have the mounts. I used the new MKA-21. Nice mount, composdite material. Scheels had it. The MKA-16 is metal, and a bit cheaper.

Make sure you know how to stow the motor. There is a service bull. out. My Terrova self deployed at 40 mph. The latch has a problem. Found out not always best to have the newest thing.

try a ram mount to hold the front down, this will stop the self deploy

Location: Rhinelander
Be sure to use a lock if you use a removable bracket. I was in a Mac and Dons in International Falls for a half hour. Took off without checking the rig, and when I stopped for fuel a couple hours later, found my 80 PD sitting on my front deck by the bike seat neat as a pin with the thumb screw sitting alongside. Someone was REALLY close to getting my electric at the Mac and Dons, must have interrupted them just in time. They did rip off a few small items from the front storage tube.

I talked to Minn Kota they rec that you slide the collor down for travel to prevent it from deploying, I have a RAM mount stabilizer on mine.

Steve W. that just plain stinks, glad you did not lose much
