"June 26th., "hot, humid and fishing reports, LBN!""

weather has warmed in the past days and daytime temps. will be running into the mid 80's during the daytime and night-time lows into the 50's.
Water temps. running mid 70' throughtout both the upper and lower Bays. This morning conditions showing calming south winds picking up by lunch time.
Bites;
walleye action continuing with numerous undersize fish each day and some nice "eating" fish mixed in.
Water depths varying from the shallows to 30-35 fow. Weed beds accounting for some good catches as fish relating to the weeds (curly cabbage, coontail, sand-grass and elodia) for baitfish, oxygen and cover.
Look for weed pockets while fishing using your polaroid sunglasses to seeing these spots holding fish.
Methods; jigging using the lightest possible weights, line weights at 6 pound test, crawler harnesses worked over the weeds using simply a split-shot, deeper waters and longer line lengths to getting to deeper water and using 1/4 to 3/8 bouncers.
Tipping these baits with crawlers, leeches and artificials.

Something we've been doing a bit different is using medium action spinning rods and running those small "mini-boards" that are light enough but getting the job done using minimal weight while working weed tops and edges. What fun for the catching,

Smallmouth Bass active on the sandy shores and flats (the upper Bay off and around the point of the Days Rivers, the eastern shoreline from Vagabond Resort areas south to Hunters Point. South of Gladstone the western bank too the Escanaba River. Check out the sand/weed areas of the Black Bottoms also.)
Methods; spinnerbaits, surface baits now with the warm weather, and casting jigs, tubes. Many of these bass are roaming the breakline edges and catching one many times brings 2 or 3 more fish into casting distance and more fun.

Pike action being now reported and seen through and around all the weedbeds on the Bay. Some good pike areas off the drop offs south by the Black Bottoms too.
Methods; spinnerbaits (chartrueses, oranges, white tails. Also spoons and in line bucktails. Many times also catching bonus pike while tossing leadhead jigs for walleye.)

Salmon action now taking place, the Fairport, Manistque also south of Escanaba off the Ford River can and farther to Cedar River.
Good catches of fish being reported now daily. Early morning bites are for sure the norm......
Methods; a variety of spoons (with such a variety; glows with oranges, rainbows, silvers), flies using blues and whites)
Best fishing depths between 60 and 100 feet of course each day varying.
Continue watching the report boards for Salmon activity.

well enjoy our summer weather on the Bays area here and good luck everyday,

Marty
