Subject: Lowrance Global Map 2000

I bought this unit off a friend for next to nothing. All it need was a new power cord which I recent purchased and have installed the unit. The problem I have is that it does not save my waypoint data after the unit is turned off. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks very much.

I had one ages ago and I can only guess that it may have a bunch of waypoints already on it, and you have exceeded the limit??? If so, you will have to erase a bunch of the old ones.
Good luck,

I'd say that Jim is right. Go into menu setup and transfer the saved waypoints to a flash drive so you do not loose them. After you know they are saved, delete all waypoints from the unit. Now, try saving a waypoint and you are probably set to go.

OR

Try deleteing a couple of way points from unit. Some that you know are useless to you. Then see if you can save one or two before it stops again.

OR

Go to system setup and see how much memory you have left

OR

Watch the screen when you try to save a waypoint and see what message pops up and disappears.

Thanks for your assistance and will try your suggetions when I get off work tonight. I did email the Lowrance company and they suggested that the internal battery may have failed and that the unit is obsolete and not serviceable. Seems like a hell of a waste of a very good product if I have to discard it on the account of a battery. I think I will do some inquiring to see if someone local to my area (Campbell River, B.C. Canada) can replace the internal battery. I will try your suggestions first though.

The springs are showing up here now in strong numbers. Good fishing reports. No big sizes reported yet .. a lot in the 15-20 lbs range, the big ones a still 2-3 weeks away, but their coming. I'm getting the itch!

Thanks again guys.
