weather changes through the past week different for end of June into July. Had several morning lows at 38' to 39' pretty frisky and dropping water surface temps. into the mid/upper 60's.
All in all still a bite of some nice eating size walleye, hearing about some perch bites and northern pike action picking up.
Best methods; again for walleye jigging, live-bait rigging and trolling both harnesses and crankbaits are taking fish through different times of the day.
Fish seem to be in their summer patterns now and after cleaning fish noticing food such as small perch, shiner minnows along with wigglers and seeing an alewive in the livewell yesterday. Plenty of food out there for them and noticing baitfish on the electronics showing fish following.
We've been using a one/two approach while fishing (winds permitted as with the smaller boards it's a bit tricky but lot's more fun with the spinning tackle!) using the small planer boards off spinning rods with crawler harness while also casting leadhead jigs tipped with both live and artifical bait and also casting crankbaits (shad raps, x-raps and rattle traps) also running our larger trolling rods using harnesses, snap-weights and boards.
It's all about having fun out on the waters.
Been again hearing of some good smallmouth bass fishing going on and pretty good pike action over the weedbeds.
Keep in touch fisherman, enjoy the 4th. and be Happy!
Marty
