Has anyone had the problem of they're livewell loosing water by being siphoned out?? When I'm not on the water my livewell holds water for weeks. As soon as I put the boat in the water, and there is any current what so ever, the livewell looses water. If there is no current and the boat is fairly stationary on the lake, then the livewell holds water fairly decent. I put food die in the livewell to make sure the lost water was going into the lake and not my bilge.

It's been a problem since day one and no one has a solution. I think it's a design flaw in my 2003 Crestliner 192 T/S. All pumps and valves have been changed under warranty, and still no fix.

Any ideas??

Paul

Are you sure it isn't just going out the overflow? Even a half full livewell will lose alot of water out the overflow if it is rocking at all.

I've seen other livewells do this as well... Definitely NOT going out the over flow as there is virtually no water left in the well after a 20 to 25 minute run.

The water rushing past the intake creates quite a bit of force, so if you were to find a way to stop the "current" so to speak you should be able to eliminate the syphoning. I suppose you could modify your livewell intake to ensure that it is completely above water while your on plane... or purchasing a product such as the livewell "Survivor" should do the trick as well.

Sounds normal to me. adjust the timer so it doesnt over flow the quicker your putting fresh, oxgenated water in the better.

Brad you're right, it's definately not going out the overflow. I'm now pretty sure the drain valve is opening from water suction. I've just installed the Survivor and that should help a lot on long runs. I'll keep working on a fix I guess.

Let me know what you think of the Survivor. I've been thinking about installing one of those myself.

I've had a Survivor on my Crestliner 202 for a long time now and it works great. Installs in less than a minute.

I had the boat on Saginaw Bay this weekend and the Survivor worked great. Definately kept the livewell full while on the move. It's not the cure for the livewell problem I have, but it sure will help. I have a fresh water pickup on my Crestliner already but it's not nearly enough to keep the livewell full while on the move.

Gunsmoke, I agree on the pickup that came with the Crestliner. I was never impressed with it. The Survivor picks up a lot more water. I've gone on some pretty long runs on rivers and lakes and the water level stays right up there.

Its a common problem with many brands of boats.Fill the live well and run in recirculate mode (not Fill) during your running around. I used survivor on my last boat it worked pretty good.
