I was just kind of curious how many boaters in the league started out as co-anglers? I know alot of guys will be be cos on the tour and the PWT but how many do it for the league? Do most boaters sign up with co-anglers? and does that guarantee you a spot even if you don't own one of the sponsor boats?

I think its all based on timing. Early signup with gold membership helps. As a boater, if you sign up for all 3 events that helps. Plus if you have early signup priveleges, ala G3 or ranger, that helps too.

Last couple of years I was a co angler on league and tour events. Next year I gonna be a boater on the league side, but still a co for a tournament or two on the tour side.

Same structure as tour, the league has co's too. I thought it was fun.

I fished the League one year as a co before entering as a boater. It will give you a good idea of how the tournaments are run and a glimpse into fishing with a stranger. If your goal is to be a boater, I would highly recommend fishing as a co at some level first. As far as signing up, it is much better if you can sign up with a counterpart. You will get your confirmation right away and not be on a waiting list. You don't have to sign up for all three right away. We generally get the first one in as soon as possible and then get our entry in for the next one right after the previous one finishes. Good luck-

The "Gold" membership only enables you to be able to have someone register you at the registration if you should need to miss it for whatever reason.

It does not give you anymore priority when it comes to sign up, than anyone else.

Probably a dumb question.

Do boaters get to choose their co-angler in this format?

Nope. Random draw to match boater and co.

yep, your right. Its the sign up where it comes in handy. I think Greg signed me up for all events last year. It sorta worked out. At winneconne, it didnt seem like the gold card helped out at all, if you know what I mean.

No, I'm not really sure what you mean. The Gold card is only good for registration...NOT the sign up.

If you were already signed up to fish the event....then, couldn't make it to the registration/rules meeting for some reason...the Gold card allows you to have someone else register you, or "check you in" at the registration.

Having a Gold card does nothing for you when it comes to "sign up".

So what happened at Winneconnie? I still don't understand what you meant. Why didn't the Gold card work there for you?

you have a better chance if you sign up as a boater and co-angler together then FLW League has a better chance of knowing the ratio of boater to co-angler. You as a boater can sign up earily with a ranger or G3 boat and your co can sign up anytime before the dead line. Each of you will need to know each others membership number.
