Location: Gladstone, Michigan 49837 | "Monday, October 15th., updating the Bay conditions"
starting with the weather conditions and seeing lot's of rain in the past week to 10 days of which we are needing a lot. Changing winds seemingly daily with lots of heavy north, east and south winds telling us "fall-season" is soon beginning!
Water temps. running upper 50's to around the 60' mark and seeing that slow turn-over of the Bays waters.
Bites are beginning too pick up with crawler harness's doing still a great job working water depths from the shallow flats of 8-10 feet to and around 30 feet of waters. Slow trolling speeds keeping just over that 1/2 to under a mile per hour. Vary speeds as each day can be different,
Talking to anglers in the past few days and cranks too taking some nice fish. Rapala baits, Reef Runners some of the top picks.
Faster speeds are triggering fish;
Live-bait rigs and jigging one of our favorite techniques can also be applied at this time of year and a fun fishing method indeed.
Breaklines and the deeper mud flats can be fished just as if in a trolling mode......
Night time fishing also is beginning with mixed results, remember fisherman keep those "boat lights" on so avoiding any problems on the
Bay waters.
Don't forget too fisherman some excellent fall Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass fishing exists out here. It's not just WALLEYE'S!!!
Good luck to all and seeing you on the water,
Marty
